“Refugees All Together As One”
Based on the principle of “Refugees are All one”, SCRSDO held a consultative meeting with the Ugandan organization Tusitukirewamu at its headquarters in Kampala, to discuss ways of cooperation in supporting and empowering refugee women.
The SCRSDO delegation included the Executive Director, the Programs and Media Officer, and the Women’s Affairs Officer. Tusitukirewamu was represented by its Executive Director.
The meeting addressed the common areas between the two organizations, notably:
- Supporting and empowering women
Through mental wellness programs, strengthening bonds and support among women by creating safe spaces for them, and strengthening their leadership role. - Education and skills development
With a special focus on language education to increase integration and employment opportunities, including French, Swahili, and the local Ugandan language. - Health
Through primary health awareness initiatives and psychosocial support for women and families.
Both parties described the meeting as positive and agreed to continue discussions and prepare a joint proposal to build an integrated pathway for women, starting from mental wellness through to empowerment, education, and employment.
